WC Lost Time Adjuster
Investigates, negotiates and concludes by settlement or denial assigned claims through telephone, personal contact, and/or written correspondence. These duties are performed consistent with company claim's policies and procedures, prescribed authority and standards of performance. All job duties and responsibilities must be carried out in compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
- Receives assigned claims (which can be complex in nature), verifies coverage and determines course of action.
- Processes claims which includes the following activities: set up file in ACS, establish initial reserves, conduct claim investigation, analyze investigational data, settle non-litigated claims, process expenses/losses incurred, prepares check requisitions, explore salvage/subrogation potential, closes claims and secures appropriate releases.
- Documents claims files and maintain control of work through documentation or diary system.
- Assigns litigated claims to an attorney who manages defense claim.
- Send releases, checks, drafts, proof of loss or letters of denial and complete reporting forms for file.
- Assign medical or other experts to case and arrange for medical examinations when necessary.
- Prepare for and participate in claims review and settlement conferences.
- Ensures compliance with company, state and federal regulations.
- College degree preferred.
- 3 - 5 years claims experience preferred.
- 1-2 years appraisal experience preferred.
- 1 year data entry experience preferred.
