Web Application Support Engineer Lead recruitment

The Aladdin trading and risk management system, used
internally at BlackRock and by BlackRock Solutions clients, enables
customers to manage over $5 trillion in financial assets. Aladdin
is central to our technology strategy, unifying BlackRock by
providing everyone with a common language and a central point of
reference for our investment activities globally.

The Aladdin and Application Engineering teams within the Aladdin
Technology group use the latest technologies to design and
develop applications that make up the firm's investment management
platform. The systems support the full lifecycle of the investment
management process, from quantitative risk management to order
entry, trade routing and settlement.

Overview

 

The Distribution Solutions (DS)
IT team provides a wide range of support and maintenance services
for of an extensive set of web and windows based applications which
make up an application portfolio used by the iShares, Cash,
Institutional and retail business areas around the
globe.

 

As part of this global
organization the DS Application Support team provides a first line
support and maintenance service to ensure the application suite is
available when required and can be relied upon to provide the
required level of service to the business.

Responsibility

 

Role Responsibilities
We are looking for a Web Application Support Engineer Lead to join
the existing India based team to provide application support to a
range of products and services which support the DS user
community.

 

These products include but are
not limited to

• Mobile applications
• Intranet and Internet applications
• Internal development tool
• Ticketing system administration
• Social and business community collaboration
tools

The role involves end user /
customer interaction and the successful candidate must be
comfortable in dealing with customer requests and issues and
liaison with business and technical teams both inside and outside
of the DS community to ensure a first rate customer experience.
 
Key Job Responsibilities:

Specific daily duties include

• Day to day leadership of the
West Coast (Seattle and San Francisco) based support team
including
• Issue prioritization in conjunction with
business

• Problem management
• Participation in the Incident Review Board
• Management of local team vacation / absence ensuring core support
service are not compromised
• Staff development / training etc
• Management of staff shift and on-call rota
• End user support and service delivery
• Issue logging, escalation and follow up
• Use existing processes and tools to solve problems
• User Set up
• Data changes
• Management reporting
• Generation of metrics / KPI's
• Significant involvement in the Incident, Problem and Change
management processes

 

Experience

 

Skills/Requirements
(Essential)
• Previous IT leadership experience, preferably in a support
role
• Knowledge of Java / JBOSS, IIS or other web based application
components and / or
• Knowledge of SQL (preferably Sybase)
• Experience of working in a UNIX and Windows environment
• Good Excel skills

Skills / requirements
(Advantageous)
• Experience of CMS tools such as Teamsite and / or Stellent
• Experience with CRM systems like Salesforce.com, SalesPage and
/or Microsoft Dynamics is highly preferred
• Experience of ETL tools and techniques (particularly
Informatica)
• Experience of monitoring tools (e.g BAC)
• Experience of working in financial markets

 

A key aspect of the role is the
ability to communicate the status of issues / queries with the
business users, so good communication skills are essential to the
role.
