Job Description
IPRO's health care transparency team is looking for an expert-level developer responsible for developing, maintaining and supporting object-oriented PHP/MySQL Web applications. Participates in all activities of the development life cycle including planning, requirements gathering, active development, testing, production and maintenance. A motivated and energetic developer who takes initiative, enjoys finding solutions to a varying number of challenges, is detail-oriented, and takes extreme pride in their work.
Our health care data-driven development fuels national and state public reporting sites such as whynotthbest.org, healthcarereportcard.illinois.gov and many others. Our national data store of health care performance (pellucid.ipro.org - check out our portfolio) is ready to be turned into physician dashboards, mobile hospital pickers or EHR-connected real time performance measurement. While we are predominantly a LAMP (CakePHP) shop, we are currently playing with EC2, mongodb, D3 and other tools looking for new ways to serve and visualize our growing data.
Opportunity to work remotely 2-days per week.
Skills Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS:
A solid understanding of Object Oriented Design and Programming and the demonstrated use of an MVC framework.
A solid understanding of Web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.
Ability to configure and manage the LAMP stack.
Understanding the benefits of SEO and the development skills to support SEO are a plus.
Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
Ability to communicate directly with peers, managers, and clients while leading development to a completed and successful solution.
Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to manage multiple timelines and complete tasks quickly within the constraints of clients’ timelines and budgets.
Ability to grow professionally in a highly flexible and fast-moving environment.
Awareness and pride in 100% client satisfaction.
EDUCATION EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of six (6) years of technical and IT experience with a minimum of three (3) years developing Web sites or Web applications using an expert understanding of requirements gathering, self management and delivery, required. Experience with PHP or similar platform, required.
