SUMMARY

The position of Web Developer I has the overall responsibility for maintaining and updating the Virtual Traffic Department ® (VTD) into the future.  VTD is a web-based Transportation Management and Supply Chain Visibility System that streamlines transportation processes, reduces transportation related costs, and provides full visibility to the transportation and logistics processes.  This includes code development of in-house developed code as well automation and integration between systems and vendor software both web-based SaaS and installed.  System infrastructure, development, and testing are some of the main responsibilities. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•             Maintain update VTD and related programs

•             Assist users with VTD

•             Quickly rectify system bugs

•             Assist Director of IT with system enhancements and projects

•             Develop maintain new systems to handle changing business needs

•             Assist Director of IT with software evaluations

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Candidate is preferred to have a minimum of 4 years of college education in computer science or engineering and technical field with a minimum of 1+ years experience in a Procedural Web Programming Language (PHP, JavaScript, ASP.NET, etc.).  Knowledge of web infrastructure and architecture is required.   Experience with server side scripting or programming with a  web based client required.

REQUIRED SKILLS

Proficiency in Web Technologies:  CSS, HTML, XSL, XML and JavaScript (AJAX).  Proficiency in Perl.  Server Side coding in the VTD is done using Perl and MySQL while client side coding is comprised of CSS, HTML, XSL, XML and JavaScript (AJAX). 

General Required Skills:  Must be dependable and keep commitments to timelines and critical deadlines.  Ability to work with above mentioned tools to develop solutions for all facets of the company.  Must have strong organizational skills and proven ability to establish effective working relationships.  Ability to apply sound analytical thinking and demonstrate the ability to optimally use all channels of communication.  Must be able to work independently in a fast paced environment.

 

ADDITIONAL DESIRED SKILLS

An understanding of the Logistics Industry, ANSI X12 EDI Standard and Linux is preferred but not required.   Knowledge of web security and testing is a plus.  Knowledge of QlikView and/or other reporting packages are desired. 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Microsoft certification or equivalent experience is desired.  Knowledge of EDI systems is desired. 

Network certification desired.
