Web Master/ Designer

Job Description:
Longer Term on-going W2 contract

Responsibilities:
- Set design standards and drive the creation of compelling designs for RDEs web sites.
- Provides a strong visual design sense which will contribute to developing cutting edge web pages with a great user experience
- Renews content of the websites as needed, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of information presented.
- Creates new pages as required to promote RDE business operations, events and campus information.
- Creates, gains approval for, and maintains guidelines for the look and feel of all web content.
- Works closely with other IT staff to assure that interactive web applications work correctly.
- Facilitate and enhance RDEs participation in social web communities.
- Assures all RDE websites and other digital content meet ADA accessibility requirements.
- Assists IT staff with web server management and administration
- Directs business unit web representatives and assigned staff in the development of departmental web sites, social media, Wikis, and u-tube video in accordance with RDE Web standards and use of web development applications.
- Works with other University Communication departments to explore and offer web information through linkages and/or joint development.
- Chairs business unit web representative committee.
- Ensures cross-platform functionality, navigability, usability, and accessibility to all RDE websites.
- Stays current with developments and changes in web publishing techniques, and with emerging technologies in web-based applications and file standards. Reviews and test new software applications for potential use in web design
- Create comprehensive strategies to engage and motivate users
- Analyze website usage statistics to determine user paths and patterns, identify problems and develop solutions
- Photograph/video on-campus activities as needed
- Assist with in-house publications (writing, light design, etc.)
- Contribute to and disseminate all electronic communications (eNews, eBlasts, video messages, blogs, social media, and future technology for communications.)
- Support current, strategic marketing initiatives.

Qualifications:

B.A., preferably in communications/journalism/web design or related field with a minimum of 5 years experience in graphic design and at least 5 years in web design and management.
Knowledge to design, conceptualize, write and assemble exceptional online content with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to catch spelling errors without electronic assistance (on hard copy).
Be a detail oriented multi-tasker; be a proficient communicator
Have a working knowledge of HTML, DHTML, XML JavaScript and other web languages from a content perspective and a passion for delivering the best web content possible.

Demonstrate the ability to work in a team setting and manage priorities of multiple clients.

Ability to effectively use strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Ability to influence across the organization and work effectively with all levels of management and staff.
Ability to convey complex subject matter clearly and engagingly using web solutions.
Ability to remain current in market trends, new business directions and emerging technologies as they relate to the web with a strategic understanding of the internet marketplace
Ability to work with a positive attitude.
Ability to work well in a multitasking environment with frequent interruptions, paying close attention to details.

Must have excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Strong knowledge and familiarity with the Web and other social media.
