Information Technology Services is searching for a Web Support and Developer (Professional Technologist 2) with strong web development, technology management, customer support and content management skills and experience. Primary Responsibilities: Provides technical project management through supervising and training all faculty, staff and students within the department of Microbiology on new hardware and software systems. Develops and maintains public websites and creative marketing and interactive materials for the Department of Microbiology and the Health Sciences Center. Provides faculty, staff and students with technical and instructional expertise in converting and managing educational materials online, instructing faculty and staff on how to use technology more effectively in the classroom and online. Responsible for interfacing software for equipment within Microbiology's departmental shared equipment facility - this includes helping with the instrumentation and programming of the equipment as well as oversight of the equipment. Provides daily support for the department of Microbiology's faculty and staff in resolving daily technical problems that may arise with computer hardware, software and data storage. This includes dealing with general networking problems and performing the first line diagnostics and maintenance on the equipment. The individual will work with the help desk personnel in the HSC to resolve any computer, network or web-based problems that arise and he/she is unable to resolve independently. Responsible for creating and updating custom software and media such as simulation software for classroom use, software for Microsoft software (specifically the computerized testing program), course exam creation, data and exam analysis reports. Supporting and resolving complex user issues with Learning Management Systems, Content Management Systems, and internally developed Web and Desktop Applications. Requirements: Strong interpersonal skills with ability to interact at all organizational levels with faculty, staff, students, managers, peers, and end-users. Extensive knowledge and demonstrated ability in developing and managing web sites. Demonstrated knowledge and experience with HTML, CSS, JavaScript and web development tools and content management systems, as well as browser technology and compatibility; Experience with Flash, .NET, SQL and Access are a plus. Solid graphic design skills, including skill with Photoshop and Illustrator Good project and time management skills demonstrating the ability to function independently on one or more individual projects while collaborating on team projects; demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize as needed. Initiative and motivation to request, accept, and complete tasks as required. Demonstrated experience of delivering quality, user accepted, completed task(s) on time. Ability to follow complex written and oral instructions. Strong analytical skills; ability to take initiative and find solutions to problems High degree of writing proficiency. Excellent communication skills in English, both oral and written, with an orientation toward customer service and education. Education/Experience requirements: A Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, Marketing or related field or equivalent experience and 2-3 years of work related experience.
