Armstrong World Industries is seeking a Web Technical Lead to serve as web solutions designer and technical lead on web development, Internet marketing and eCommerce projects. The Web Technical Lead is primarily responsible for translating functional specifications into system designs and technical specifications, leading development activities, supporting test plans, integration testing, and quality assurance. In addition, the candidate must be highly motivated, self driven, and eager to learn new technologies. They would be able to adapt and prioritize work based on customer, IT and management needs.
Description
This ideal candidate will engage project managers and business analysts to transform business and functional requirements into system designs, technical specifications and technical development plans. The plans will be managed by project managers while the Web Technical Lead will have responsibility for leading the development of websites, configuring on-line commerce platforms, directing developers, reviewing deliverables and coordinating testing.
Responsibilities
- Serve as technical lead on projects to extend, enhance, and create new capabilities for our current portfolio of residential, commercial and international marketing web sites and systems.
- Lead the design, development, and enhancement of web solutions to meet eBusiness, eMarketing and eCommerce initiatives.
- Participate in requirements gathering in order to provide expert technical guidance on systems options and architect solutions.
- Design solutions and system integrations within the framework of Armstrong's web architecture and on-line commerce platform.
- Provide guidance and direction to contractors (including offshore) and junior team members, ensuring coding standards are met on assigned projects.
- Create work products (design documents, technical specifications, system documentation, etc…) within scope of responsibilities.
- Review / test project deliverables before release.
- Develop technical documentation for all assigned work.
- Balance multiple concurrent assignments with shifting priorities.
- Drive continuous process improvement relating to systems development.
Qualifications
- BS/BA in Computer Science or related field or the equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in development and implementation of Java/J2EE based websites and applications.
- 3+ years of experience in analysis and development of externally facing web marketing, interactive commerce projects.
- 2 years of experience successfully developing and deploying eCommerce websites and/or web applications.
- Proven ability to translate business needs and functional requirements into system design and technical specifications.
- Experience with wire-frames and use cases as communication methods between usability engineers and the system design/development team.
- Strong technical skills in: Java, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS, SQL, Linux, and web services.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with on-line commerce platforms.
- Thorough understanding of web/internet technologies, business concepts, security issues, and networking standards.
- Firm understanding of web based database applications. Experience with web server architecture, content management systems and/or search technology are a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to relate to diverse groups of internal customers including management.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with internal and external clients, vendors, consultants, designers, and developers
- Working knowledge of all facets of software engineering and technology development including process, methodologies, scheduling, current technologies, QA, web and internet strategies, design and implementation.
- Knowledge and experience with ATG Commerce Suite, including methodologies and best practices.
- Knowledge and experience with Endeca guided navigation and search, including methodologies and best practices. Expertise in Endeca workbench and pipeline configuration.
- Working knowledge of various open source packages and libraries; jQuery, prototype, groovy, and Apache Tomcat.
- Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) best practices.
- Experience working with offshore development resources.
- Understanding of web usability, web browser differences, screen and connection limitations, and coding to accommodate them.
- Language fluency in addition to English is a plus.
