Chevron's Environmental Management Company (EMC) is accepting online applications for the position of Well Abandonment Engineer located in Covington, Louisiana.
Overview:
This position will develop procedures, prepares cost estimates, provides permitting support and prepares schedules for offshore and onshore well abandonment.
Position Details:
Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
Planning and executing offshore/onshore well abandonment projects.
Develops procedures and prepares cost estimates.
Provides permitting support and prepares schedules.
Working closely with asset team engineers to develop offshore decommissioning candidate lists, securing the necessary equipment and services to conduct offshore/onshore well abandonment operations.
Provides oversight to field Company Representatives.
Monitoring well abandonment program execution, and tracking project execution metrics.
Position requires frequent travel to offshore Gulf of Mexico locations by boat or helicopter.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a engineering discipline OR may consider construction management discipline if candidate has appropriate related work experience.
Minimum 5 years of directly related experience.
Experience in planning and managing complex, multi-faceted well abandonment projects involving cementing services, wireline operations, coil tubing services, snubbing services and rig operations along with coordination of marine vessels in an offshore environment within assigned scope, timeframe, and budget for both technical and decommissioning activities.
Ability to negotiate remedy selection with regulators and other stakeholders. Ability to think strategically and develop cost-effective solutions acceptable to stakeholders and minimizes Chevron's future liabilities.
Experience stewarding HES programs and processes, experience with various safety system tools (such as Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Behavior Based Safety Observation process (BBSO), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Contractor Safety Management, etc.), and experience in positive reinforcement of safety performance / behaviors.
Ability to travel and stay overnight on offshore platforms, structures and boats.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
Experience in offshore/onshore decommissioning operations along with decommissioning project management.
Use of Smartbox, Visio, Access Database software.
