ConocoPhillips? repositioning is subject to market conditions, customary regulatory approvals, the receipt of an affirmative ruling from the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, the execution of separation and intercompany agreements and final board approval. A position with significant responsibility for well planning, preparation of geological prognoses and evaluation plans, well permitting, drilling exploration wells, reporting, and day-to-day interaction with rig, office personnel, and management as part of our growing program of operated Deepwater GOM wells. This position will report to the Gulf of Mexico Drilling Manager with functional guidance from Exploration. Candidates should have a degree in geoscience and have exposure to or basic understanding of the following: well planning, contracting, supervision of geological wellsite operations from the office, pore pressure analysis and formation evaluation techniques using wireline logging and LWD. It is essential that the candidate has a good command of written and spoken English and is highly computer literate. This role acts as a key interface amongst the integrated subsurface, drilling, and HSE teams and the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate both positive teamwork skills and an individual drive to accomplish safe drilling of wells. The job will primarily be office based with occasional trips to the wellsite as required. The expectations are for a commitment to at least 2-3 years in this role with a preferred start date of 2Q2012. Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities Preparation of exploration and appraisal well plans and prognoses in coordination with subsurface team. Coordinating geological supervision and data acquisition at wellsite, its cost effectiveness and QA/QC. Disseminating appropriate and timely data during well operations and completing final well reports in a timely manner to the standard required by ConocoPhillips and partners. Identify, evaluate and apply new and emerging well data acquisition technologies in order to optimise data acquisition, improve quality and reduce costs in coordination with petrophysicists. This position is expected to suggest and provide alternative solutions to drilling and formation evaluation proposals in order to optimize the well design and data gathering.
