Wholesale Finance Cost Manager
Full Job Description
Overall responsibility for the cost management and reporting function for European Wholesale Bankingbusiness, including global cost re-charges and reallocations, and Head Office Administration Expenses.
Key Roles Responsibilities:
- Functional and segmental cost management and analysis:
o Active participation with cost owners to manage costs.
o Ensure that aggressive but realistic targets are set and understood.
o Ongoing analysis and monitoring of cost drivers, to identify costs risks promptly.
o Ensure plans are in place to mitigate costs risks, or else they are escalated for approval at the global level.
- Ownership of Cost forecasts and budgets:
o Submission and analysis of monthly costs estimates.
o Submission and analysis of quarterly formal forecasts.
o Submission of annual budget.
o Work with global teams as required to achieve the above; challenge the business and-or global teams as necessary to ensure forecasts and budgets are derived based on sound financial parameters.
o Analysis and interpretation of variances between budget - forecast and actual costs.
- Performance Management Reporting:
o Produce all regular reporting and ad-hoc MI, analysis and commentaries for Costs.
o Assist in the production of Whole BankingEurope cost MI and analysis.
- Ensuring integrity of all cost charges to UK general ledgers.
- Ensuring integrity of all cost re-charges and re-allocations
- Qualified accountant who is able to demonstrate a high standard of achievement in the following:
- Proven track record of cost reporting, controls and performance management.
- Strong team working and networking capability - success of role is reliant on ability to work with many different teams effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - clear, concise and at appropriate level of detail tailored to different audiences-purposes.
- Ability to escalate issues as and when appropriate and keep line management informed of all key issues and events.
- Ability to effectively prioritise and deliver to tight timescales.
- Team player with a positive and flexible attitude.
- Systems experience: Excel advanced level essential; Access desirable.
- Previous team management experience.
Wholesale Finance Cost Manager required in London City based global Wholesale Banking organisation. The best candidates will come from a similar Financial Services environment from a Senior Associate to Junior VP level.
- Base salary from £55,000 to £75,000 for the right candidate at Senior Associate to Junior VP levels
