What will the role involve?
You assist with the development and implementation of tools and techniques to identify measure and manage the Corporate Bank's balance sheet. Work seamlessly with all functions within the Business Line, the Treasury Functional Pillars and Wholesale Treasury to ensure the efficient allocation and use of balance sheet capacity and capital.
Optimise balance sheet structure
- Assist with the Identification and management of risks pertaining to assets and liabilities, working in partnership with the analytics and wholesale pillar teams to ensure risks can be priced.
- Assist with the development of loan funds transfer pricing and asset and liability pricing in BarCorp,
- Work with product and coverage teams to design and price liability and debt products
- Assist in the development of key capital, return and balance sheet targets for portfolio, products, countries and clients
Day to day measurement and management of balance sheet risk profile
- Assist the Director, Liquidity Risk Management in assessing, in conjunction with other parts of the Wholesale Treasury function, the quantum of liquidity risk and how this correlates with other risks within the BarCorp balance sheet, e.g. credit and market risk.
- Assist with the evaluation of retained risks and how they can be mitigated
- Assess the impact of external factors (e.g. regulatory changes) and how this impacts the Corporate Bank's strategy and products
- Assess true liquidity costs and alignment with FTP, pricing and incentives
Manage balance sheet and ALM operations globally
- Assist in the development and maintenance of BarCorp governance process
- Support the development of efficient hedging strategies for liquidity risks
- Build effective relationships with the functional pillars as well as functions such as Risk, Finance, Coverage and Product
- Assist with reporting and oversight to ALCO, CIB Treasury Committee and Group Treasury Committee as required.
What will you need?
Skills
- Proficiency in ALM and liquidity risk concepts, methods and technologies (desirable)
- The creativity and technical skills to direct technical staff and identify the appropriate balance sheet structure
- Good knowledge of market and liquidity risk measurement systems and methodologies (desirable).
- Good understanding of the Bank's Risk, Liquidity and Capital framework and of the Regulatory Liquidity regime
- Effective inter-personal skills
- Good communication skills that bridge the gap between theory and practice, seamlessly catering for the different levels of understanding across the Bank
Experience and qualifications
- Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Physics or another quantitative subject is preferred although not required
- Able to balance theoretical knowledge with a profound understanding of what is commercially viable, ensuring that activities increase shareholder value
