Windows Server Engineer Job
Overall Purpose of Role:
Serve as a Windows Administrator; responsible for design and maintenance of Windows 2003 / 2008 server-based infrastructure systems, as well as day-to-day operations of geographically dispersed Windows 2003 /2008 servers.
A large portion of the contract requires candidates to be based in Dublin. Please only apply if temporary relocation to Dublin is feasible.
* Management of incoming task / event / incident queues.
* Assist with development of major Technical Operations projects, including project technical design, time and resource management as well as implementation.
* Develop design specifications, author internal documentation and participate in the review of these documents.
* Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Windows environment, related applications and projects.
Skills / Experience Required:
* 3+ Years’ Experience of hands on experience with Microsoft Server technologies with expert knowledge in Windows 2003/2008 server configuration in Enterprise Environments.
* Expert knowledge of Active Directory design, implementation and support
* Expert knowledge of system and network management concepts
* Excellent knowledge of a scripting language such as Power Shell or VBScript.
* Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Networking services such as DNS, DHCP, WINS, TCP/IP, SMTP, NTP, HTTP and routing.
* Excellent knowledge of HP Intel based server hardware and technology
* Excellent knowledge of OS Imaging / deployment solutions
* Excellent troubleshooting skills
* Excellent Written and Oral and communication skills.
* The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Experience with the following is highly desirable:
* Visualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V and XEN.
* SCOM or other monitoring tools.
* Windows Clustering Services
* IIS.
* Systems benchmarking and sizing.
* Windows Debugging.
* SAN and NAS Technologies.
* Cisco Switches and Routers.
* Load Balancing Technologies.
* HP System Insight Manager, Insight Dynamics or similar
