Windows System Administrator – Investment Banking – London
Windows System Administrator required for my investment banking client based in London to provide day to day production and development support for an estate of 7500 Windows servers in EMEA. This position entails third line support of all operating system and infrastructure and encourages providing value add services such as architectural/strategic/project/application design consultancy.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct upgrades/rebuilds on the windows infrastructure and troubleshoot/repair Windows hosted systems/applications.
- Receive and execute on written and verbal assigned tasks from the Windows manager, or his designated representative including peer groups and application team manager.
- Participate in the current efforts to standardize the implementation of Windows servers including strategic use of virtualization.
- Supply subject matter expertise in Microsoft Windows and associated software products.
- Work closely with counterparts in other regions to ensure global consistency with respect to installations, architectural analysis, and general support/implementation of Windows OS.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to developers. This support will involve effective communication, handling of escalations on Windows matters, and/or identifying production anomalies to developers for their corrective actions for all production and non-production releases (This task is a continuous effort throughout the SDLC).
- Provide technical services to monitor and maintain a 24x7 critical environments, (the Windows production, development, and test servers) running on firm’s strategic platforms – including periodic OS/FIRMWARE upgrades.

- VMWare (ESX)
- HP Proliant , IBM, HP and Dell hardware
- TCP/IP, DHCP, WINS and DNS
- HP Systems Insight Manager
- Microsoft Cluster Services
- Anti-virus / OS patch management
- SAN/NAS connectivity
- Scripting knowledge (preferable)
- Bladelogic (preferred)
