The role: Windows System Administrator
Systems Administrators embrace Google's motto to ensure millions of users can access the world's information without a glitch. As a Systems Administrator at Google, you own and support the needs of one of Google's server infrastructure systems. You're highly technical and work directly with other server and service owners to ensure reliability and sustainability of the Google service infrastructure as well as compliance with internal policies. Success in this role means you are able to support servers in a mixed operating system environment and work efficiently with our internal technology providers as well as other operations groups. Googlers rely on your guidance when it comes to design decisions so you'll have a direct impact in keeping the business productive.
Responsibilities:
- Design, Architect and implement solutions based on Citrix XenApp, XenDesktop and other related products (Ability to build world class application delivery infrastructure.
- Use tools and systems to deploy Windows worldwide, including AD, WSUS, SCCM/SMS, PXE, imaging tools; manage the infrastructure on which those tools are deployed.
- Evaluate OS level security risks within the corporate environment; propose and implement solutions to make Google's corporate environment secure while minimizing the impact to Googler efficiency and workflow.
- Investigate and develop software to help manage the Windows fleet and gather metrics around usage, security, and software licensing.
- Work closely with the other Operating Systems teams to build cross functional tools and support systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree in a technical field (In lieu of degree, 4 years relevant work experience).
- 5 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- 5 years working in a large Windows environment (500+ clients); at least 2 years of Python coding experience.
- Experience using and packaging software for delivery via SCCM/SMS.
- Solid understanding of Active Directory, WSUS.
- Strong networking fundamentals.
