Windows System Engineer - Windows Administrator/ Architect - Low-latency Trading Infrastructure - Buy-side/Sell-side - Hong Kong
My client is a leading Infrastructure IT Vendor that specializes in providing low-latency trading Infrastructure for buy-side and sell-side firms. They are currently looking for a Windows System Engineer (Permanent) who is experienced in working for the financial markets.
The primary role of the Systems Engineer is to design, deploy and support clients’ systems, users and installed infrastructure. You will be involved in all aspects of the server, storage and email infrastructures. You will also be the final escalation for technical investigation of issues with systems running within the infrastructure. The system engineering team is global and works on a follow-the-sun basis to complete projects in the global infrastructure. Throughout the process, excellent levels of communication should be maintained with the team and appropriate documentation and management information maintained.
Role specifics:
- Server and system design.
- Building servers, storage and deploying application solutions for internal use and clients.
- Providing expert third line support for the issues arising from the first and second line teams.
- Administration of Microsoft Exchange Email platform.
- Administration on Windows Active Directory security.
- Monitoring of the core infrastructure including servers and storage environments.
- Identification of core infrastructure issues and performing investigation and resolution as required.
- The role is a permanent role and will report jointly to the Senior Engineer in Hong Kong and the Global Head of Windows Engineering team in London.
Skills required:
- 5 years minimum experience working in server engineering, deployment and 3rd line support role.
- High level of English communication skills.
- Experience of issue management and resolution.
- A proven self-starter capable of working on own initiative.
- Experience of the Investment Banking / Hedge Fund industry and trading floor environments is desirable.
- Knowledge of providing final level support of Windows Server environments (2003/2008)
- Supporting Exchange Server 2007/2010
- Active Directory administration (GPO's, login scripts, etc.)
- Virtual server environments including VMware ESX and HyperV
Desirable skills:
- Veritas Netbackup experience
- SAN (3Par, NetApps) maintenance and administration
- Final level support and design of Citrix environments
- Final level support and design of VMWare environments
- Powershell
- Networking knowledge including Cisco routers and switches, TCP/IP, DHCP and DNS
- Unix / Linux
