The primary responsibility of this position is to provide Windows administration SUPPORT and perform system management tasks in an Enterprise environment. Candidate needs to demonstrate expert level skills with all aspects of a Windows Server environment. Candidates should have experience at the Enterprise level and work well in process driven and regulated environments. Responsibilities will include management, oversight and direct support of specialized systems and applications. Ideal candidates also have experience in the life sciences area and are very comfortable with architecture, handling multiple projects and bringing a wealth of ideas on how to accomplish system management tasks for complex systems across multiple locations.

"Job Responsibilities"

Setup and on-going maintenance of Windows Systems.
Conducts routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Develops and maintains operating system hardware and software configuration database/library of all supporting documentation.
Develops and promotes standard operating procedures.
Provides support and consultation to remote locations or clients in order to identify requirements and configuration resources.
Works on short term and long-term requirements of systems operations and administration are included in the overall information systems planning and budgeting of the organization. Implements operating system enhancements that will improve the reliability and performance of the system.
Maintains growth statistics, space forecasts, and software and hardware inventories.
Maintains ITIL processes
Monitors and maintains compliance with system software licensing and hardware and software maintenance agreements.
Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum performance levels. Creates tools to ease production process.
Automates routine procedures. Maintains servers, creates monitoring reports and logs, and ensures functionality of links.
Performs software installations and upgrades to operating systems and layered software packages.
Schedules hardware and software installations/patching and upgrades and maintains them in accordance with established IT policies and procedures.
Responsible for installing, configuring, and maintaining operating system servers, in support of business processing requirements.
Troubleshoots problems, responds to escalation and performs repairs as needed. Works on system-level services to ensure proper patch levels on applications and operating systems.
Ensures that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security, compliance and access management as per standards and policies
Rotational 24x7 on call support duties.
Work with the architecture teams to develop strategy, evaluate new options and toolsets for continual process improvement.

"Qualifications:"

Qualified candidates must possess the following skills/experience:
5+ years as a Windows administrator
Need to have experience with VMWare technology
Must have experience working with current and older HP Proliant Servers.
Expertise in general Windows systems administration, web servers, load balancers, VERITAS Cluster Server (VCS), storage (EMC, NetApp), network and host security, and relevant protocols (SMTP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, NFS).
Experience in installation and monitoring of Application Servers (e.g. Weblogic, Tomcat, Apache)
Experience with TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
2+ years of experience in fast-paced high-availability production environments with an emphasis on remote "lights-out" management of systems.

Doctorate degree OR Masters degree 3 years of directly related experience OR Bachelors degree 5 years of directly related experience OR Associates degree 10 years of directly related experience OR High school diploma / GED 12 years of directly related experience

Preferred Qualifications:
BS in technical discipline (e.g., computer science)
Mid to senior level programming/scripting
Outstanding troubleshooting ability.
MCSE/MCITP Certification
Virtualization experience (VMware / Hyper-V)
NetApp and EMC SAN storage experience
Citrix experience
Working experience in a life sciences or regulated organization a plus
Familiarity with VERITAS Volume Manager, VERITAS and Microsoft Cluster Server, Oracle and SQL Databases
