Windows Unix Administrator:
This application administration position will work primarily on Windows and Unix platforms and focus on end user incident management, problem resolution and the implementation of new COTs applications. Position will perform software lifecycle management including packaging of installers using vendor furnished media, custom code, application patching and break/fix. Applicant will be responsible for packaging software for deployment. Provide Tier 3 application support and this function includes investigation, diagnosis, resolution, recovery, and documentation. Duties will include maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software, support of client/server environment needs in a UNIX – Windows homogenized environment. Operates as part of a larger Data Center team and therefore must be able to communicate and work well with the other IT organizations and the customers.

Maintains smooth operation of multi-user computer systems, including coordination with network administrators. Duties may include setting up administrator and service accounts, maintaining system documentation, tuning system performance, installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space. Interacts with users and evaluates vendor products. Makes recommendations to purchase hardware and software, coordinates installation and provides backup recovery. Develops and monitors policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources

Basic Qualifications: 

6 Years with Bachelors; 4 Years with Masters

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Windows and UNIX operating systems as well as client/server environments. Excellent troubleshooting skills are required. These skills should also include Perl, VB Script, Visual Basic, C and C++ programming are great to have. HTML and Web Design are of benefit. WisePackaging, or PowerShell. Candidate should be familiar with SQL and UNIX Scripting. Candidate needs to be familiar with JBOSS and various storage devices such as SAN and NAS and their associated restore methods and tools. Should have a working knowledge of CAD tool design and user skills. Has understanding of classic Systems Administration and distributed computing concepts.
