Strategic Research Analyst

The Market Research Analyst has responsibility for qualitative and quantitative primary market research for specific products, brand(s), and customer segments within CCH North America. The Analyst will support the development and execution of primary market research as it pertains to CCH. He/she will work with the Senior Manager to provide marketing insights that drive strategies of the business and respective teams / areas of the organization. In this role, the individual is responsible for helping drive the timely initiation and completion of projects as well as designing the overall methodology and data presentation plan. This individual must be capable of collaborating across the Market Strategy Intelligence team and various business partners / teams to ensure requirements are met. The Analyst must be able to demonstrate strategic thinking, the ability to work on multiple projects with conflicting deadlines, and work with the Senior Manager to provide recommendations that will assist in the development of sound business strategies.
The Market Research Analyst is expected to be a strong team leader as well as a research advisor within the CCH organization. They must have the ability to design and concept research programs, understand basic methodology to launch initiatives, and seek out appropriate research vendors when needed. The Market Research Analyst must have excellent written and oral communications skills, and a proven ability to analyze, organize and integrate large amounts data into clear concise presentations and plans. Previous marketing and analytical background required.
The Market Research Analyst assists in the overall market intelligence process and helps the organization develop a thorough understanding of the market and its customers. This is a "hands-on" role and will include support for conducting, executing and managing both quantitative and qualitative research projects. In addition, the Market Research Analyst will support the Market Intelligence needs by understanding and applying secondary/syndicated research in providing market and trend data and analysis to key stakeholders throughout the organization. Key areas of focus for this position include:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
• Helping maintain a deep understanding of the overall market and submarkets, including size, growth, and maturity, and our position in those markets
• Participate in creating a holistic competitive intelligence process from a macro and micro level and coordinating the timely flow of information to key stakeholders
• Maintain a deep understanding of emerging business, technology, regulatory, social and economic trends and help identify opportunities for the organization to strengthen its position through effective Thought Leadership opportunities
• Actively participate and collaborate with key stakeholders in the quarterly and annual business planning process, resulting in the annual organization Business Development Plan
• Participate in cross-functional teams to drive the development of innovative, market-leading solutions
MINIMUM EDUCATION:
• HS diploma or equivalent and 5 years of related experience
PREFERRED EDUCATION:
• Bachelors Degree in Business or other field OR equivalent related work experience
• MBA in Business or other related field
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
Requires a minimum of 3-5 years of strategic market research with preferred working experience in one or more of these areas:
• Tax and accounting industry
• CPA market
• Software and information services industries
• Experience with success in B2B marketing across multiple customer segments
• Firm understanding of basic statistics and their application towards answering business problems / questions (e.g. Significance Testing, Role of Sampling, Correlations)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Experience implementing customer satisfaction programs, including Net Promoter Score (NPS) across an organization
• Experience performing in-depth strategic and financial analysis
• Experience understanding of financial concepts including revenue projections, costing, budgeting, etc.
• Experience effectively implementing strategies and the ability to manage multiple complex initiatives simultaneously
and remain focused
• Experience communicating effectively with the ability to present results to all levels of the organization including
senior management
• Experience writing effectively to understand, concise reports, with the ability to summarize large amounts of data
into manageable / actionable content
• Experience understanding business problems and turn into actionable project plans whether executing primary
or secondary research and/or competitive intelligence activities
• Experience assisting in building infrastructural initiatives within the Market Intelligence function including a global
research “library,” weekly/monthly report-outs of completed research, and secondary trends
• Experience researching market trends in local, regional, national and international areas to identify potential markets
and factors affecting product demand within the tax accounting industry
