Company
Manfield Colair is a dynamic, expanding Electrical, Instrumentation and Refrigeration business providing commercial and industrial services to Rio Tinto Alcan Gove.
The company is seeking a qualified Workplace Health, Safety, and Training Officer to join its management staff.
This is a residential position working with a long established and highly safety conscious electrical company in Nhulunbuy (Gove) in the Northern Territory.
You will be reporting to our Site Manager, with the responsibility of maintaining the health and safety environment as well as quality management systems in accordance with the relevant standards and legislations. You will also assist with the HR duties and training for the workers. Your TAA/TAE qualifications will be desirable in providing on-site training and management.
Other responsibilities include weekly and monthly reporting, incident investigation, managing the return to work process, and conduct Safety meetings.
To succeed in this role you will possess the following:
- Cert IV OHS with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in a hands on Safety Advisor role within heavy construction or mining environments
- Possessing a current Senior First Aid certificate, Cert IV in workplace training and
- assessment is highly desirable
- Good understanding of the MSI / OHS Act and Regulations
- Computer skills adept to the Microsoft office suite
- Current drivers licence and the ability to pass a medical and DA screen.
- Experience in a similar role within the electrical industry. (Electrical Trade qualifications would be very desirable)
- Relevant qualifications (Occupational Health Safety, HR, Training, Electrical)
- Must demonstrate a high level of communication skills (both verbal and written) and the ability to manage your time and responsibilities
- The ability to communicate with people within different positions and different levels.
- Thorough understanding of policies, procedures, and legislation such as the Workplace Health and Safety Act and the Environmental Protection Act.
- High risk licence (EWP)
