About the Job – Unity Scientific, LLC, a leading supplier of NIR and Wet Chemistry instruments and equipment, is seeking a full time Technical Writer to work with the engineering department in our Brookfield, CT office.
Job Purpose: Supports engineering department by analyzing information support requirements; writing and upgrading product documentation to produce a world class standard of documentation.

Responsibilities Include:
- Understanding documentation requirements by conferring with engineers and software developers and programmers; studying product to develop impactful work.
- Develops writing strategy by identifying systems aspects that need documentation; evaluating customer research
- Documenting information, SOP’s, operational documentation, and manuals as supplied by experts
- Writing and editing Operational Manuals for existing and proprietary products
- Meeting stringent deadlines with impactful quality work
- Work in a team environment with worldwide staff
- Work with other departments helping write, edit, format and check written work
- Develops writing plan by establishing standards, priorities, sequences, and schedules.
- Prepares documentation by converting technical descriptions into user-understandable language
- Confirms documentation by forming tests groups; observing product use; interviewing users
- Improves documentation by evaluating frequently asked questions; interviewing technical support specialists and users
- Experience translating materials from foreign languages is a plus
Candidates should have the following qualifications experience:
- Practical experience producing technical writing in one of the following areas: Modern laboratory electronic equipment, scientific instruments, optical, engineering, or mechanical writing
- Degree in Technology, Science, English, or Communications desired
- Several years of experience in an engineering department where technical writing and editing were required job activities
- Must be a highly organized self-starter with the capacity to work on several projects simultaneously, manage multiple tasks and complete projects with aggressive deadline
- Work well in a matrix team atmosphere
- Possess excellent communication skills to manage situations in a tactful, mature and cooperative manner
- Good problem solving and decision making skills with attention to detail
- Able to maintain confidentiality
