The Role

Position

Serve as a subject matter expert to the customer regarding XBRL reporting and the process for creating XBRL formatted financial statements. Review XBRL data tagging to ensure consistency and accuracy in the financial reporting for the customer.

The Role

Reporting to the XBRL Manager - Key responsibilities of the role will include:

Provide consultation with clients on XBRL process, technology and use of the systems that guide the XBRL process on the more complex financial reporting projects.

Review XBRL document for accuracy, consistency and completeness of data tagging. Manage workflow, communications and timelines for assigned clients on multiple, concurrent projects.

Create a customised taxonomy document using a client's recent filing with the SEC as well as the IFRS Taxonomy.

Consult with clients to determine and confirm which financial statements map directly to the IFRS Taxonomy and which financial statements require customised extension elements to create the final XBRL document. Structure the XBRL taxonomy accordingly.

Ensure on time delivery of final approved XBRL financial statements for customer.

Participate in customer meetings to present and explain XBRL information.

Apply knowledge of current SEC requirements for evolving XBRL compliance requirements and address client questions related to their specific compliance requirements.

Performs other related duties and participates in special projects as assigned.

Job Knowledge Skills

3-5 years experience working for either a large accountancy firm or a FTSE 100 / 250 company.

Must have solid understanding of and be able to interpret Financial Statements and understand IFRS accounting standards.

Solid understanding of SEC reporting requirements.

ACA, CPA or ACCA qualified.

Full understanding of XBRL taxonomy and XBRL rules.
Must be fully proficient with Windows and the Office suite of products. Experience with text editors such as Notepad ++, MS C# to edit HTML and XML.

Able to demonstrate ability to solve somewhat more complex problems by analysing variables and applying appropriate solutions learned through experience and proficiency in understanding the job. Must be able to recognise anomalies and critical situations and respond appropriately.

Must be able to communicate and interact with a variety of internal/external customers and/or co-workers at level of detail required to resolve issues of moderate complexity.

Able to apply strong functional computer knowledge in utilising Microsoft Windows or other technical tools in completing assignments.

May require knowledge of or ability to quickly learn specialised software to complete work assignments. Able to demonstrate continued expertise in the primary tools or applications used in completing daily work assignments.

Requires very good communication skills with ability to state messages in a clear manner by using language that is easy for others to understand.

Must be able to proactively listen to others to understand issues and situations.

Must be able to clearly articulate business needs to both internal and external customers.
