Scale and scope of the position

Corporate Reporting department is a team of over twenty qualified financial accountants. The department provides an excellent legal entity overview of all businesses and products. The Corporate Reporting team comprises statutory, regulatory reporting and legal entity control.

The Corporate Legal Entity control team is responsible for the accounting, financial reporting and control of circa 40 entities in the EMEA Region, the largest international entity in the banking group and one of only four Tier 1 entities within the group.

The role is within a group of three focussing primarily on controls supporting the reporting and owning the reporting for a number of other SPVs, subsidiaries and structured product issuance vehicles. The candidate will be involved in the accounting, financial reporting and control for these EMEA entities but also to be involved in assisting the re-engineering of key controls; improving both efficiency and effectiveness; and working with the rest of the team towards being more business and commercially focused. This role reports directly into a vice president.

Responsibilities

This role is an interim contract position to cover the replacement of permanent staff. The candidate will support the reporting and control and have primary responsibility for the reporting and control for a number of SPVs, subsidiaries and structured product issuance vehicles within the group covering:

Supporting the Month end close including journal preparation for intercompany settlements and US GAAP to UK GAAP conversion to create the UK GAAP accounts for MLI.

The completion of a number of UK GAAP annual statutory accounts for Companies House filing. The legal entities include subsidiaries and partnerships used in structured products. The role requires interfacing with external auditors. There will also be interim accounts for issuance vehicles for filing at various exchanges around the world to support listings.

Working to produce the monthly accounts under UK GAAP for UK regulatory reporting team to support FSA return production

Support monthly reporting cycle including reporting pack production, various PL, expense and balance sheet reviews

Monthly controls and balance sheet attestation, expense commentary and review, corporate cost centre review

Requirements

Essential

Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with first time passes

Consistent and strong academic record

Strong UK GAAP knowledge

Demonstrable experience of preparing statutory accounts and interfacing with external auditors

Working knowledge of Excel (pivots)

Must be comfortable working in a delivery-focused and fast-paced environment

Desirable

Working US GAAP knowledge

Familiarity with investment banking products and understanding of business flows

Working knowledge of PowerPoint

Oracle General Ledger experience
