1st Line Desktop Support Engineer recruitment

As a desktop support engineer you will be working as a local resource for a Chicago based team supporting the day to day operation of the office IT environment. Our environment consists of around 100 Windows-based workstations and a number of linux desktops, running office, trading and software development applications, Cisco phones, laptop computers. Users include traders, highly technical technologists, trading support and administration staff.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring and resolving automated alerts and trouble tickets raised by users.
• Provisioning of new office IT products and services including workstations, laptops, Cisco desk phones, printers, software applications.
• Raising and implementing office IT infrastructure changes.
• Managing shared directory structures including capacity planning and access control.
• Testing and evaluating hardware and software products in a lab environment.
• Taking part in the implementation of office IT projects.
• Keeping technical documentation up-to-date.
• Acting as a deputy server-side Windows engineer.
• Maintenance of London server room and support for first line issues.
• Assisting facilities with desk moves and other technical queries.

Key Skills /Attributes:

• Excellent communication skills
• Desktop hardware experience
• Good understanding of the following software technologies: Windows 7, Microsoft Office 2010, Anti-virus software
• Basic Network Troubleshooting knowledge
• Basic Linux trouble shooting knowledge
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail

• Windows Server 2003/2008SP2/R2
• Microsoft Exchange 2007/2010 administration
• Active Directory administration
• DNS/DHCP
• Scripting technologies (VB / Powershell)
• NAS and SAN storage
• Remote access technologies
