Position Description

POSITION SUMMARY/OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

Morgan Stanley Wealth Management (MSWM) provides a full brokerage service to individual clients investing in both domestic and international equities, and wealth management services including financial planning, margin lending and managed fund investments.

The Credit Risk Analyst position will support the increasing need to manage risks within the firm. This role will assist in managing the firm's credit, suitability and investment risks. Management of risks across various products include equities, derivatives, international exposures, structured products and margin lending.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Compile scenario and stress testing on both derivative and margin lending portfolios across both domestic and International platforms
• Conduct and document analysis of securities for lending (LVRs)
• Proposal of credit limits across margin lending, derivatives and international platform
• Management reporting and oversight of daily margin calls
• Undertake suitability analysis and implementation across derivatives, equities and margin lending
• Facilitate queries from branch staff, operations and management in respect of risk policies both domestically and via the International platform
• Assist in the implementation of new products by determining the risk parameters in which the business can operate

Skills Required

KEY COMPETENCIES / SKILLS

A. Technical/Specialist skills/competencies

• Strong quantitative background in the finance industry dealing with counterparty/credit risk
• Strong understanding of leveraged products including derivatives and margin lending
• Ability to read and interpret financial statements
• Excellent IT literacy, excel, database and analytical skills
• An understanding of Australian and US securities regulations and compliance requirements, including ASIC Markets Rules, Securities Clearing House Business Rules, ASX Clear Rules, Corporations Act and ASIC policies.
• Ability to identify risk and minimise potential liabilities to the business.
• Extensive knowledge of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney policies and procedures.

B. Business/Industry knowledge/competencies
Extensive knowledge of financial markets fundamentals and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure technical or professional solutions are delivered.
• Sound understanding of equity markets, derivatives and lending principles
• Ability to assist in identifying risk and minimise potential liabilities to the business.

QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

A. Qualifications
• Tertiary qualifications preferred with a background in Financial Management, Economics, Commerce
• RG146 compliant
• ASX Derivatives accreditation - Level 1 2
• Margin Lending accreditation
• FRM or CFA an advantage

B. Description of minimum work experience required for this role

• 5+ years experience in broking or banking is essential, with a detailed understanding of all aspects of stockbroking operations.
