Job Description: Busy, stable company in South Orange County is looking for a purchasing agent to join their team and support the senior purchasing agents in the department! This position will be supporting the purchasing processes for new and upcoming locations as well as purchasing needs for internal company staff. Any retail industry experience or Lawson software experience will be a huge plus. Successful candidates will have strong negotiation skills at least 3 years of purchasing related experience. Inventory control/management would also be a plus. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Sr. Purchasing Agents in negotiating, reporting and ensuring purchasing operations are supportive of all areas of the company. Assist with procurement of non-merchandise products and services including; distribution center supplies, and merchandise packaging items. Assist with gathering of data to help analyze inventory levels for inventory items, filing, and other administrative tasks as required. Work with existing vendors and assist with the sourcing of new vendors to ensure optimal pricing, order quantities and service are attained. Ensure vendor contracts protect company's best interests and uphold policies and procedures. Develops understanding of budgeting needs and procedures; provides pricing estimates and strategies for projects. Evaluates bids, proposals, and quotations; conducts cost and price analysis, conducts vendor interviews. Determines consultant/contractor solution recommendations. Reviews invoices and purchase orders for processing and payment. Prepares complex contract amendments, revisions, terminations, and close-outs. Administers on-going contracts to ensure consistency with terms and conditions of contracts. Follow up with vendors on Backorders/Delinquent orders as well as pending orders and notify Buyers with updates. Act as a liaison between all departments to ensure proper communication is attained during the Request for Proposal process. Assist in tracking of vendor compliance. Assist in disposal of any surplus materials/supplies. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Proficient in the use of Excel and MS Word. Ability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities listed above. Detail oriented and organized. Able to effectively use common office equipment. Ability to reprioritize projects frequently. Must have ability to multitask. Independent, self-motivated, team player. Able to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: 3-5 years of administrative experience preferred. 1-2 years office Purchasing/Contracts Administrator experience preferred. High School Diploma required.
