The Highlands Group, established in 1962 and one of the nations most trusted and leading multi-line sales and marketing firms to the Office Products Channel, is looking for an experienced Account Manager who will call on distribution and large corporate end-users in the New England marketplace. This is an established territory with plenty of room for growth. This position will include a “hybrid” set of responsibilities which include field sales support and national account support to one specific account located in this geography.  The field sales component will involve calling on distributor sales representatives and large corporate end-users assisting with product training and pull-through sales activity related to driving business. The National Account component will include responsibility for developing implementing account specific business plans on behalf of manufacturers represented by The Highlands Group.  This role will be to serve as the primary contact to a major, regional office products distributor providing account leadership and increased distribution of supplier’s key products and brands into catalog and on-line distribution.  The current supplier base is primarily focused on vertical market products and suppliers in the janitorial and food service related product categories.  Therefore, this role is best suited for an individual with a background in Janitorial, Food Service, or Facility Maintenance. Additional experience and knowledge of the Office Products class-of-trade is preferred but not necessary for consideration.  The Highlands Group represents only well recognized name brand manufacturers strictly to the office products trade.

 

Responsibilities include:

·         Proactively prospecting and calling on existing and potential dealers and distributors of office products and office furniture

·         Effectively communicating the various manufacturer’s products and buying programs to office product trade accounts

·         Continually working to improve sales through education and training of dealer/distributor accounts.

·         Provide timely/accurate administrative reporting

·         Supporting and assistance with Supplier’s account strategies in accordance with overall channel strategy

·         Develop account goals and business plan with customer

·         Conduct reviews of business performance and promotional strategies

·         Participate in catalog reviews 

·         Participate in the development and implementation of account’s financial support program, business building program, and supply chain program

 

Compensation:

Base salary plus quarterly bonus, full benefit package including medical and matching 401K  

 

 

 

 

 

 

To be considered, the ideal candidate must have:

·         3+ years in business to business outside sales experience with an established track record of meeting and exceeding goals

·         3-5 years of experience in National Account Sales and / or Marketing

·         5+ years of Janitorial, Food Service, or Facility Maintenance selling or marketing experience

·         Ability to evaluate business opportunities, set priorities and direct resources

·         Ability to effectively implement sales and marketing strategies

·         Demonstrated skills in achieving sales, profitability, and budget goals

·         Ability to monitor category performance versus plan and communicate effectively

·         A high energy, winning attitude with an Entrepreneurial spirit

·         Strong listening skills and can focus selling message on customer needs

·         Detail-oriented, self-starter that possesses excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communications skills

·         Excellent organizational presentation time management skills

·         Able to work in a team environment and independently

·         Working knowledge of MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook

·         Four-Year College degree
