Accounting Manager: A large public company headquartered in San Diego is looking for an Accounting Manager for their inventory accounting department. This person will review, develop, implement and maintain processes, systems, policies and procedures associated with areas of responsibility and in accordance with SOX responsibilities. Through communication with business process owners, they will identify, research, document and resolve significant and complex accounting and/or SEC reporting issues through preparation of technical accounting memos that cover various transactions of the company, including acquisitions, business development projects and other contract-based transactions. This position is located in San Diego.

Responsibilities:
• Coordinate overall monthly close process including importing, reviewing and posting of journals, maintenance and enforcing the monthly close calendar, and opening and closing Company accounting periods in a timely fashion.
• Coordinate, review and summarize the monthly variance analysis for the sales organization and corporate departments.
• Coordinate the preparation of and review monthly balance sheet accounts reconciliation in a timely fashion.
• Research and review/prepare routine technical accounting memos, including revenue recognition treatment.
• Act as the primary resource and assistant to the Director for coordination with the external auditors including coordination of all audit and quarterly review schedules, timely audit issue discussion/resolution and preparation of audit variance analysis.
• Manage functional area's daily activities to ensure effective time management and appropriate accounting treatments. Will review and approve work performed, including but not limited to, journal entries to be posted to system and functional areas of the balance sheet. Will mentor staff and consistently provide performance feedback including the creation of bi-annual reviews. Will have ownership of group assignments and delegate responsibilities to staff as appropriate.

Required Qualifications:
•Bachelors' degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
•CPA with at least 5 years recent Big 4 public accounting firm experience
•Service business with a recurring revenue model, such as telecommunications, cable, technology business or consulting
• Masters' degree in Accounting, Finance or related field a plus
