ACCOUNTING MANAGER

POSITION OVERVIEW:
To direct the financial affairs and financial reporting of the Credit Union; to ensure accurate financial reporting and supportive back office operations in accounting and payment systems. To manage finance/accounting and payment systems personnel.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversees finance/accounting and payment systems departments; hire, train, directs, and evaluates employee performance within the departments; recommends promotions/transfers and salary adjustments.
- Oversees cash management, audit, task, accounting, purchasing, and payment systems
- Prepares and/or reviews financial reports; ensures complete/accurate financial, statistical, and accounting records of the Credit Union.
- Prepares quarterly call reports, and other regulatory filings.
- Directs disbursements and expenditures for accounts payable and capital purchases.
- Works with auditors/examiners on year-end audit, internal audits, and periodic examinations.
- Provides safekeeping, control and accounting for assets and securities.
- Reviews operational procedures to obtain optimum efficiency and reduced costs.
- Develops new business relationships with vendors, and maintains relationships with various existing vendors.
- Writes, reviews, and distributes finance-related policy and procedure statements to ensure regulatory and policy compliance and industry best practices.
- Serves on the Asset/Liability Management Committee.
- Coordinates accounting entries for purchased participation loans.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Experience-Two to five years of similar or related experience, including the supervision of others.
- Education-A 4-year degree in Finance or Accounting. Master’s degree or CPA a plus.
