Accounting Policy Developments, Global Bank, ACA

We are recruiting for an individual to work in the Group function within Policy. The team is responsible for the accounting developments in monitoring International Accounting Standards Board (‘IASB’) projects, participating in lobbying activity and supporting implementation, and other tasks to assist the Current Accounting Policies side of the team.

The role, therefore, requires the role holder to accumulate extensive and detailed knowledge of IFRS and to be a source of expert advice to business and finance management around the Group.

Specific tasks will include:

- Being the key contact for IFRS 9 classification and measurement and hedge accounting, including monitoring as practice develops, implementing any required changes and working with IFRS 9 programme and regions and businesses;

- Assisting with the monitoring of accounting developments in Hedge accounting, and working with the capital markets team to respond to requests for comments from the IASB;

- Involvement in Group training, both preparing and presenting material on specialist topics; and involvement in the final review of the annual report and accounts before publication.

Background required:

Post qualification experience of financial reporting, auditing, and technical accounting in IFRS (greater levels of experience at higher grades).

Preparation/audit of financial statements under IFRS with either an audit practice (Big Four audit firm preferable) or a large bank in the UK

Project management experience desirable although not essential.
