Accounting Policy with CPA a MUST recruitment
This position will work extensively on researching and documenting accounting policies to develop and maintain the Firm’s accounting policy manual with a focus on the technical accuracy of accounting practices and to provide input for changes to existing operating procedures. The position will be responsible for maintaining a “forward looking” view on accounting policy changes to be promulgated. The position will be required to respond to technical accounting inquiries on a broad range of contemporary accounting topics, and may be required to draft technical responses to the FASB and other standard-setting bodies. This position will have limited exposure to supervising individuals, with the primary focus on the completion of project-based assignments and coordinating efforts across a team of individuals worldwide.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Monitoring emerging accounting and financial reporting developments as promulgated by standard setting bodies and advising Controllers and Senior Management on compliance and implementation strategies.
• Assist the accounting policy manager on implementing the project plans for many new accounting policy initiatives (Consolidation, Leasing, etc.).
• Partner with Business Line Controllers and business line representatives to develop a comprehensive understanding of the business and related accounting activity
• Focus on process improvement and assess accounting best practices for new and existing activities and transaction flows.
• Identifying and developing criteria and commentary on critical accounting and financial reporting issues across all statutory jurisdictions (global responsibility).
• Responsible for ensuring the firm’s accounting policies are effectively communicated and complied with throughout the firm.
• Work with the external auditors on coordinating audit requests and compiling new disclosures required in the Firm’s audited financial statements.
• Assist in the development of management reports and ad-hoc financial analysis projects such as benchmarking financial results
• Own the Accounting Policy database and address new/changes to policy
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Project management experience
• Excellent written and verbal skills
• Proven technical accounting and financial analysis skills
• Strong attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• 3-5 years of public accounting or equivalent private industry experience
• CPA
• Operations or financial services experience a plus
• Strong spreadsheet and database application experience a plus
