The ACT Legal Team is a centralised point of contact in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) for receiving and reviewing account opening documentation, and client documentation for existing J.P. Morgan Private Bank clients. The Team is based in Knightsbridge in London.
The successful candidate will be an integral member of a team of 7 lawyers from a range of jurisdictions. The ACT Legal Team reviews account opening documents and clients' supporting documentation, and authorises the opening of new Private Bank accounts in accordance with established internal and regulatory practices. The ACT Legal Team is also responsible for maintaining and updating documentation for existing J.P. Morgan Private Bank clients.
Key tasks:
- Working closely with colleagues across the Private Bank in London, and from our regional offices in Madrid, Milan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Paris, Geneva, Dubai and Frankfurt, to facilitate the smooth on-boarding of new clients, as well as the effective maintenance of existing client relationships and documentation
- Analysing and understanding complex client structures and explaining them to colleagues across the business
- Reviewing clients' constitutional documentation, having consideration for relevant tax, regulatory and corporate law issues, as applicable
- Adherence to internal and FSA regulatory requirements and guidelines
Qualifications
- The team does contain fully qualified solicitors, but we will accept candidates with Law Degree/LPC qualification (or equivalent in candidate's home jurisdiction). Once trained, the successful candidate will be expected to deal with a wide range of jurisdictions and entity types.
- A working knowledge of the general principles of corporate, trust, banking, tax and estate law. Previous banking experience preferred, but training will be provided to the successful candidate.
- Fluent English language skills and fluency in an additional European language (French, Italian, Spanish, German or Dutch). This individual will need to have the ability to analyse legal and corporate documentation in at least two of our working languages.
- Strong team player with the ability to work independently, as well as in a small team environment, and to work on multiple tasks at any one time
