Aircraft Certification Project Specialist

Under supervision, performs a variety of engineering and administrative tasks associated with ODA (Organization Delegation Authorization), FAA (Federal Aviation Administration), EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) and/or other FCAA (Foreign Civil Aviation Authorities) certification projects. Primary responsibilities include the gathering, organizing, generating, processing and supporting the review of engineering documentation from project start to document release and project closure. Principal Duties: 1. Supports certification project engineers, specialists and department manager/ODA Program/Project Administrator in the review of STC/TC/MRA data packages prior to submission to the FAA for completeness and adherence to the established requirements. Makes recommendations to ensure STC/TC/MRA documentation is prepared in accordance with approved procedures. 2. Develops an adequate level of understanding of the technical issues related to the assigned certification programs to support direct interface with not only the company engineering staff but also the FAA. 3. Gathers, organizes, and processes engineering documentation related to STC/TC/MRA projects. 4. Exercises creativity and initiative in processing, handling and distributing engineering documentation to both internal and external organizations. 5. Supports the tracking of STC/TC/MRA projects and associated documentation to ensure completion within the required timeframe. 6. Assists in the development and documentation of processes and procedures related to aircraft certification (i.e. manuals, guidance material, etc.) as well as data supporting compliance to the certification requirements (i.e. compliance checklists, master drawing lists, etc.). 7. Contributes to the preparation and revision of supporting certification documentation as instructed. Additional Duties: 1. Works with internal and external customers to identify, research, and resolve problems with certification data packages. 2. Participates on work teams to achieve department goals, complete milestones and improve processes. Requirements: 1. Good working knowledge of MS Office software. 2. Must be familiar with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certification processes. 3. Must have excellent organizational and planning skills. 4. Must be able to clearly identify procedural problems and work to solve problems in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures. 5. Must clearly and tactfully communicate with others and work as a team player. Education Required: Associates degree in a technical or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and FAA certification project related experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. Three (3) years experience supporting engineering certification projects and/or activities. Experince with aircraft Major Alteration and Supplemental Type Certificate approval processes (DAS or ODA) for Part 25 aircraft preferred.
