AML Associate

This is a great opportunity for a compliance professional with some experience in financial crime looking for a step up into a dynamic and fast paced environment.The key objective of the AML Associate is to assist the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to ensure that the firm complies with its legal and regulatory obligations under UK and international laws and regulations pertaining to prevention of money laundering, through adequate policies, procedures and surveillance.

Your day to activities would include the following:

Assist the MLRO in the oversight of all aspects of the firm`s AML activities covered in FSA sourcebook, JMLSG guidelines, and UK AML and anti-terrorist legislation
Support and co-ordinate the detection and mitigation of potential money laundering risk
Day to day monitoring of adherence to the firm`s AML policies and procedures
Review and analyse AML surveillance reports and follow up to resolution
Assist with written responses to AML and market abuse enquiries from FSA and law enforcement agencies
Assist with automating and deploying technology to mitigate ML risk
Assist in the production of the Annual AML Report for Senior Management
Assist training of relevant firm staff to ensure continuing competence in accordance with FSA and JMLSG regulations
Help to ensure that appropriate systems and controls are in place regarding the restricted countries and Bank of England sanctions notices

Key Requirements

Knowledge of JMLSG, and FSA rules relating to AML
Knowledge of FSA market conduct rules ("MAR")
AML or related surveillance and compliance experience in investment firms
Bachelor`s degree preferred: business, finance, accounting or technology related preferred.
Experience in the brokerage, bank or securities industry
Securities industry qualifications preferable

Must possess strong analytical skills and good oral and written communication skills
Must have a strong technical orientation and be comfortable with computers and technology as applied to surveillance and compliance
Must understand the nature and confidentiality of AML process and related information
Must be able to work in a cordial, small-to-medium office environment
