Analyst, Corporate Development Strategy

Basic Job Functions:
First Solar is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Analyst, Corporate Development Strategy. The Analyst will be a critical member of First Solar’s corporate development team and will work closely with the corporate strategy and strategic marketing groups in financial analysis, deal origination, due diligence, competitive analysis, and valuation execution of transactions. The Analyst will help identify and assess strategic opportunities and build relationships with emerging and established companies in the solar energy industry.

Experience:
• 2+ years of global business experience with a large bulge bracket investment bank or top-tier consulting firm.
• Experience specifically within an energy/power generation/utility group with significant renewables experience a significant plus.

Education:
Undergraduate degree in finance from top-tier institution required.

Required Skills:

• Outstanding strategic, analytical and financial skills evidenced by experience developing and constructing complex and dynamic financial models that are grounded in operating reality, contemplate multiple means to achieve required returns and reflect legal, accounting and tax constraints.
• Hands-on experience working with a team on multiple transactions/client engagements through all facets of the engagement process is required.
• Experience at preparing and acquisition/investment recommendations to corporate senior management.
• Experience working with cross-functional project and transactional teams including: operating executives, subject matter experts, accounting, legal, tax, HR, etc.
• A track record of developing constructive relationships and working effectively with peers as well as senior operating and functional executives.
• Knowledge of best practices in corporate transaction execution and integration, and experience implementing processes that are sustainable, repeatable and scalable.

Essential Functions Responsibilities:
The Corporate Development Strategy team works closely with the company's executive management, business unit and functional leaders to optimize corporate resources, assess market dynamics, execute strategic transactions, and bolster First Solar’s competitive position. The group is charged with (a) identifying organic and inorganic growth opportunities for the Company (b) evaluating acquisitions, investments, joint ventures, divestures and other initiatives that will assist in capitalizing upon these opportunities (c) managing the deal execution and integration process and (d) assessing First Solar’s competitive position across its product portfolio as well as its potential for growth in the solar energy market.

The Analyst of Corporate Development Strategy will work closely with multiple business
units and functional leaders and staff to:

• Contribute to the development of the company’s global MA strategy, including identifying opportunities to expand current capabilities and explore adjacent opportunities through key acquisitions.
• Identify and screen target companies by evaluating them across all dimensions of fit and value.
• Conduct customer and management interviews, analyze competitive dynamics, build financial models, forecast sales pipelines.
• Maintain and regularly update competitive assessment tools to inform and support the requirements of multiple business unit leaders and functional groups.
• Assist cross-functional teams to assess and prioritize new market and product opportunities.
• Assist in the development and maintenance of internal tools to enable business units to effectively address those opportunities.
• Maintain and regularly update a pipeline of potential target companies that fit a proactive acquisition strategy.
• Assist with the execution of all acquisition processes, including strategic evaluation, valuation, bid letter drafting, due diligence, negotiation of definitive agreements, structuring and closing.
• Work closely with internal and external transaction project teams, including due diligence and contracting processes.
• Prepare transaction opportunities and status for senior leadership.
• Monitor progress against annual goals.
