Analyst – Enterprise Risk Management recruitment
Job Purpose:
The role is a critical and influential one. Initially deployed into a global project role with broad responsibilities, this individual will use their skills to progress significant change in the organisation.
Working with relatively flat team drawn from variety of backgrounds, this person will:
- Participate in the daily project management activities, including preparation of project presentation materials
- Work with workstream leads and participants to progress data collection, analysis, design action plans and drive actions to completion
- Interact with Senior and mid-level management as well as all levels of staff to progress the project
- Actively work on identifying emerging risks and issues for consideration by the project team, Steering committee and workstream participants
The strong candidate will build and make use of a solid understanding of a markets businesses and a network of markets-related business relationships. He/she will be viewed as a practitioner, making a strong contribution to the improvement in risk management within the markets environment.
At the completion of the project, the Analyst will be deployed into ongoing ORM and/or ERM activities. Working with colleagues in the global ORM and ERM teams and in other parts of Citigroup, analysts are actively engaged in the identification and review of operational risks and areas of control weakness. Activities are varied and may involve analysis of complex issues and span multiple management groups. Working with all constituencies, analysts may look to review internal and external risk factors, including historic experience of operational loss, develop analysis of risk profile and develop corrective action plans - with the aim of reducing operational risks. Review of existing processes and controls, identification and analysis of root causes, as well as clear communication of risks and recommendations are key activities.
Job background/ context:
Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) is a recently formed combination of Citi's Fraud, Controls and Emerging Risks and independent Operational Risk Management (ORM) teams within Independent Risk.
ORM and ERM are focused on the Anticipation, Mitigation and Recovery of Operational Risk and are actively engaged in a mandate to reduce operational losses at Citi, managing the risks and ongoing exposures that arise from the development and delivery of products and services to our clients. Enterprise Risk operates with a focus across the variety of operational risks, including the risks of loss resulting from inadequate or failed internal processes, human factors or systems, or from external events. Broadly these are:
- Process risks such as execution, business disruption, systems failures
- Conduct risks such as business practices, market conduct, employment practices, workplace safety, internal theft fraud
- External risks such as damage to physical assets, external theft fraud
This includes legal, franchise and reputational risk, but excludes strategic risk and the risk associated with credit or market risk judgements.
Key responsibilities:
Working with a cross-functional team, this candidate will interact with multiple stakeholders to drive project progress across the globe. The principal responsibilities of this role include:
- Project management activities - including the coordination and convening of working group meetings
- Oversight and constant improvement of workstream progress
- Data collection, analysis and reporting
- Action plan development - including prioritisation and scoping, progress monitoring, review and reassessment
- Preparation of project reporting materials
- Project impact analysis

Time in this project role will provide the candidate with in-depth knowledge of Citi's products, processes, policies and risk procedures and a broad network of internal contacts. Candidates can transition to other roles within ORM and ERM, and may find this role prepares them for transition into other Independent Risk or Business Risk Control functions or jobs within business units.
Skills
Knowledge/ experience:
- Strong experience of markets/ trading environments, ideally with well developed networks within the Citi markets and treasury businesses
- Deep understanding of processes and controls in markets/ trading environment
- Interest in and familiarity with risk management
- Knowledge of supervisory, risk management and management awareness practices
- Ability to work well in a cooperative, high energy, matrix managed business
- Ideal candidate will have experience of business and process management in financial services
- International experience is desirable - experience dealing with international teams required.
Skills:
- Communication and development of rapport - with team members and project stakeholders
