Merck Animal Health is a leading manufacturer of animal vaccines. We are offering a summer internship opportunity at our Animal Service Department facility as a member of a team to aid in developing new solutions for protection of various species against infectious disease pathogens. In this role, you will gain first hand experience in what it takes to bring a vaccine to the commercial market. This position requires the ability to provide basic animal husbandry needs, i.e., feed, water, care, sanitation, socialization. Cleaning and disinfecting of animal units. Assist RD personnel with animal study work, i.e., blood sampling, restraining and inoculation. Quality documentation skills are required for records/observations of animals on study. Summer Internship appointments are generally 9-11 weeks in duration and are normally 38.75hrs/wk. This position does not provide housing or relocation assistance. Qualifications Required: * Currently pursuing degree (minimum of a BS/BA) in: Veterinary Medicine, Biology, or related field. * Must be available for a period of 9-11 weeks, beginning June 2012. * Basic animal husbandry skills (i.e., feed, water, care, sanitation, socialization.)
