Application Consultant (Charles River) recruitment

Role

Providing analysis and support for the Global Investment business environment, primarily on the Charles River IMS and FIX systems. Responsible for interacting with multiple business areas to analyse issues and determine automation needs where applicable. Performs analysis into ongoing and urgent issues, proposes and implement solutions and performs remedial activities on the floor. The successful candidate will be assigned to multiple activities and projects of varying priorities. This role, requiring day-to-day support of systems within the investment management arena and will require a flexible working pattern to match the requirements of the business areas serviced.

Principal Responsibilities

Major Duties:

• Provide primary support for the Charles River (V8.x) and FIX (V4.x) applications, within the investment management environment for users based in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong.

• Broker certification of FIX connections and Broker configuration support

• Setting up and maintenance of stored queries, blotters and baskets

• Provide support for third party applications such as Liquidnet, ITG Triton and Tradeweb.

• Daily interaction with portfolio managers, traders, transition managers, compliance and Chicago based IT teams

• Participate in project and support planning, including development/ execution of test plans and user acceptance criteria

• Implement minor enhancements and upgrades and identify areas for improvement for Charles River and other supported systems

• Provide support for internally developed applications in various technologies

• Participation in Business Continuity testing

• Ensure support calls are logged on our call logging application and escalated as necessary

• Prepare materials and manuals and provide training to partners

• A flexible approach to work hours is a must, as the business operates between the hours of 07:00 and 18:00.  A shift rota is worked within the team

• Being part of the rota for on-call support

• Intermittent weekend working may be required during project implementations

Secondary Duties:

• Communicates with various business areas and outside vendors, consultants, and clients regarding automation needs

• Undertake user administration for a variety of applications

• Review and analyse existing system enhancements and recommend modifications as needed

• Complete daily checks at the start of business to ensure production environments are meeting SLA criteria.

• Adhere to IT process and procedures

 Skills / Experience

• Experience of supporting Charles River or other OMS application and the FIX engines

• Experience of supporting a front office trading environment

• Analysis, documentation and implementation of critical business solutions, utilizing many technologies over tight business-defined time-scales

• Technologies required: Charles River, SQL, Database knowledge,

• Strong Analytical and problem solving skills

• Previous experience working within the project framework, utilising common software development life cycle methodologies

• Articulate and communicative, able to interface to many levels from Analyst to Managing Director

• A proactive and self motivated attitude is a vital part of this role
