CGI is looking for several Technical Consultants to join our Federal Business Unit in Durham, NC. This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a growing team to support multiple applications and customers. Successful candidates will be afforded the opportunity to expand their skillets across the breadth of EPA's technical architecture and advance their careers at their own pace. The Technical Consultant will gain a broad understanding of EPA application architecture and interact between application owners and system infrastructure, application, and database support teams as part of a cohesive project team. The successful candidate will perform job activities in a thoughtful and careful manner. The Technical Consultant will be responsible for the following: - Provide technical consulting services to include capturing technical requirements and guiding application owners and developers on the correct application deployment practices - Participate in application implementations, debugging, and development. Develop application and database performance monitoring and tuning approaches for custom built applications - Possess knowledge and understanding of database architecture using one or more of the following: Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server. - Perform tasks that include database performance tuning, monitoring, debugging, table normalization and automation via scripting - Demonstrate an understanding of deployment architectures for servers, networks, operating systems, Middleware applications like Oracle, Apache Tomcat, Cold Fusion and Domino - Document application deployment architectures and communicate decisions in technical documents and diagrams - Participate in working group sessions and Joint Application Design (JAD) sessions - Develop, maintain and follow processes and procedures related to application deployment and other IT infrastructure related projects and activities - Coordinate and schedule implementations in multi-vendor environment - Understand interrelationships and impacts of systems and applications upon the enterprise wide technical environment Skills Required: - Excellent oral and written communication skills, must be proficient developing and delivering documentation supporting project scope, design, and deployment approach - Knowledge and experience in using tools such as Remedy for service requests, incidents and change management
