Application Technician Job Summary: Develops, builds, and tests motors and equipment under direction of engineering staff by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: "Performs machine and bench operations, fabricate and assemble components to construct prototypes of newly engineered products. Works from engineering drawings, diagrams, sketches, specification charts, and handbook formulas. "Reviews blueprints, plans, and other customer documents to assist in selection of proper product for the application. "Processes and coordinates all engineering, manufacturing and quality assurance items from sales force. Example: Sample Motor Requests, Print Change Forms; Deviations; Pricing Questions, and other matters as may occur. "Develops and prepares cost estimates to assist in pricing decisions. Prepares product and sales literature. "Provides technical services to customers, agents and sales engineers. "Able to use a wide variety of precision measuring instruments to lay work out, set up machines, assemble and check work. Sets up mechanical and/or electrical testing devices and apparatus in accordance with engineering specifications, established or standard procedures. "Mounts and secures experimental models or integrel components on test device and process test procedures in prescribed sequence; note and record performance data for evaluation; calling attention to deviations or variations not anticipated or indecated in testing specifications and instructions. "Performs difficult and critical laboratory testing on experimental models and components in process of research and development to determine acceptable standards of performance as theoretically established by engineering. "Dismantle models after testing and inspect parts for wear; determine reasons for malfunctions or failure. Make calculations employing prescribed mathematical formulas to organize technical data and formulas for processing. "Prepare reports of test data for evaluation; make constructive recommentdations as to product performance, malfunctions, failures, or breakdowns. Drafts detail drawing or sketch for drafting room completion or to request parts fabrication by machine, sheet metal or wood shops. "Compile, organize, and prepare technical reports and recommendations for evaluation by Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and other internal departments. " Supervisory Responsibility: None Qualification Requirements: Education/Experience: One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals and technical drawings. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
