Application Server Administrator Job in Ottawa K2K 3G1, Ontario Canada

We have an immediate opening for an Application Server Administrator (ASA) who will participate in the support of the SaaS application infrastructure, focusing on the configuration, installation and maintenance of the EAP JBoss architecture.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Manager, SaaS Operations, the ASA will:

·         Deploy, maintain and troubleshoot key application server components (EAP JBoss on Linux) used in the hosting environment

·         Collect and analyze application and environment data to identify and resolve issues related to single points of failure, performance bottlenecks, capacity and configuration management

·         Scripting and participation in the automation of tasks to draw operational efficiencies from available resources

·         Use analytic troubleshooting methods to differentiate between infrastructure, environment vs. JBoss or J2EE Application problem, and manage accordingly

·         Deploy application solutions and work with the DBAs to keep client profiles current

·         Collaborate with the DBAs, RD and QA teams to evaluate, test and recommend environmental enhancements and troubleshoot issues found in the environment

·         Maintain and improve system and clustering configurations in the application environment

·         Participate in change, configuration and release management processes as it relates to the technologies and responsibilities of the position

Qualifications:

·         A University degree in computer science or equivalent experience

·         Minimum two years of experience in configuring and maintaining JBoss (WebsSphere, Tomcat or similar AS administrative background is considered) on a Linux platform

·         Working knowledge of the following: web server configuration/management, XML structure and use, clustering and load balancing technologies

·         Good knowledge of networking concepts and technologies

·         Intermediate level of experience with RHEL/Linux

·         Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills

·         Familiarity with Java/JVM programming, Storage integration, and relational database systems (Oracle preferred)

·         A demonstrated ability to work within ITIL process, specifically Change Management and Configuration Management

·         Strong personal motivation, excellent communication skills and ability to work within a small team

·         Must be flexible to accommodate the requirements of data maintenance in an “always on” environment and available for on-call duties on a rotational basis
