Application Support Asset Management

SQL or MS SQL / Fixed Income or Derivatives knowledge / Order management system / Work load automation Job Scheduler /

My client is a well established global asset management firm who are currently performing very strongly. Due to their continued succes they require an addition application support professional to suplement their existing team.

Primary duties:

* Supporting the core business applications and responding to users requests in a timely manner.

* SOD/EOD health checks of batch jobs and other critical application processes.

* Working closely with the trading, operations, marketing and finance teams. This is a technical role with a high degree of user interaction and involvement with the head of IT - excellent communication skills are a must.

* Daily monitoring, resolving and closing of incoming calls through the tracking system VSM following ITIL processes of creating outages and Severe Incidents.

* Investigate and resolve issues, ranging from proactively identified issues, such as technical issues and failures identified through checks, application functionality issues, and users requests and queries.

* Real time monitoring is via large display video screens in the support area. Additional alerts are monitored via text and email alerts.

* Follow the team rota which includes weeks of 7:00am, 8:00am and 9:00am starts.

Secondary duties:

* Participate in Business Continuity, Disaster Recovery testing. Perform Application checks post Server Reboots by Infrastructure team.

* Work through (debug) code and data to identify source of problem and either resolve or escalate to development resource.

* Ensure WIKI / Knowledgebase is up to date with new documentation, processes, FAQs.

* An out of hours support function is provided by the team, again position in the call tree is rota based.

* Contribute ideas and/or implement changes towards continuous service improvements in Application Support team.

Experience and person skills required

The successful candidate must have demonstrable experience in:

Essential:

* Educated to degree level in relevant Numerate/Computational/Scientific subject

* Proven experience working in a busy financial application support team

* SQL to query level, MS SQL or other relational database

* Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

* Demonstrable strong analytical ability

* Detail oriented, able to follow procedures and processes

* Use of call tracking systems

* Excellent communication skills

* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team

Advantageous:

* Familiarity of the fixed income, risk and derivatives business

* General awareness of the Financial markets
