Application Support (Research) recruitment

Responsibilities:

• support the research support manager in defining the operational support requirements for all new research systems being implemented by the research programme, this includes processes, monitoring, escalation
• second line support of all business line applications investigating problems through issue resolution
• issue resolution, workaround or impact analysis and escalation to internal support teams third party vendors
• analyse and resolve data issues working in partnership with the relevant business support unit
• working with Desktop Support and infrastructure functions to troubleshoot desktop performance issues
• support application testing for new releases maintenance fixes
• create, modify and maintain reports
• end user application training, both group and 1:1

Requirements:

Essential skills:
• degree level qualification or equivalent
• demonstrable experience of strong problem / issue resolution
• experience of incident, problem and change management cycles
• experience of system / change implementation
• ITIL Foundation
• demonstrable experience in the support of vendor provided applications
• working knowledge of the main providers of market data, including Bloomberg
• in-depth experience as a power user of productivity tools such as Microsoft Office
• proven experience in analysing, identifying ‘root cause’ and solving data related issues
• experience in top quality production monitoring tools (beyond based technologies and hardware, focussing on application alerts and predictive impact assessment); ideally HP OpenView
• technical skills in support and migration of MS Office content onto more strategic solutions
• finance sector experience preferably investment management
• willingness to work non-core hours / weekends where necessary

Desirable Skills:
• experience with investment research applications in the areas of ratings, content creation, content consumption, modelling valuation
• buy-side front-office application support experience including Portfolio Management Research tools
• securities industry qualifications e.g. IAQ
• experience in the following toolsets and languages: 1) HP OpenView; 2) .NET languages (ASP.NET, c#, VB.NET); 3) SQL Server; 4) SQL Server Reporting Services
