C++/C# PhD Quantitative Developer/ Researcher, Leading Global Hedge Fund- UK; London recruitment

This is a great opportunity for a talented researcher/programmer to make that leap from academia, into the financial sector. The working environment has an academic feel to it, given that the majority of the people there come from similar, PhD and research-focused backgrounds. The work space is open and highly collaborative and there is immense overlap across the varying teams within the institution, with no clear divide between development and research. You will play a key role in the analysis, research and design of new cutting-edge high frequency trading tools and strategies. You will also be responsible for working with large data-sets and will be required to employ your strong problem-solving abilities.
 

The ideal Entry-level Quantitative Developer/ Researcher will have the following skill set:• PhD/ MSc preferred in a science based field (Computer Science/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Machine Learning/ Statistics/ Electrical Engineering or similar)

• Solid research background

• Strong C++ or C#/ .Net programming ability

• Sql or experience with databases would be beneficial but isn’t essential

• Experience with scripting or functional programming languages would also be advantageous (Python, F#, Ocaml etc.)

The responsibilities of the Entry-level Quantitative Developer/ Researcher will be:

• Work in a collaborative and open environment on a wide range of different projects within overlapping teams

• Design and development of next generation high frequency trading tools and strategies in C++ or C#

• Works alongside the quants and processing and analysing large data sets to make them available for the traders

• Research new trading strategies and models to ensure that the company stays ahead of its competitors
