Application Tester – Central Business Administration Function – Financial Services Group recruitment
Area Overview:
The Financial Services Group is responsible for providing banking services to the US Government, banks and other financial institutions. Within this group, the Electronic Payments Function (EP) provides critical national services for the Fedwire® Securities, Fedwire Funds and National Settlement services under the direction of the Wholesale Product Office (WPO). In addition, the Function provides support to the Customer Relations Support Office (CRSO) and the Subcommittee on Credit Risk Management (SCRM). The EP Function has staff in both the Head Office and the EROC Operations site.
The Central Business Administration Function (CEPS CBAF) is responsible for the operation and administration of the mainframe and distributed Electronic Payments systems supporting the critical, high value, high availability Fedwire payments systems. This includes scheduling, testing, authorizing changes, providing access administration, contingency and budgets for the Electronic Payments systems. In addition, CBAF is responsible for ensuring that the Fedwire Funds, NBES and National Settlement; ABMS and GCD applications are available according to their business requirements while providing premium customer service to the Districts and other application users. Members of the testing unit will interact closely with the WPO, SCRM's Technology Support Function, CRSO, Federal Reserve Information Technology (FRIT) and the New York Technology Services Group (TSG).
Responsibilities:
- Development and execution of comprehensive test plans and scripts.
- Review test output and document results including logging and following up on identified problems.
- Assist in the development of automated test scripts for system testing.
- Utilize an automated software quality management toolset, covering test validation linkage to functional requirements repository, defect tracking and project reporting.
- Assist in the role of technical expert for the Electronic Payments applications, provide technical and operational support to other members of the CBAF staff and Federal Reserve District users.
- Represent CBAF on work groups; make significant contributions to projects and work group initiatives.
- Contribute to the development of business and user requirements for existing and/or new Electronic Payment applications.
- Assist in the development of user documentation.
- Identify and implement technology-based business process and reporting improvements.
- Stay abreast of testing techniques by self-help and on/off site courses.
Skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree preferably in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent work experience.
- Proven ability to understand both mainframe and distributed computer processes.
- Experience working in a distributed processing environment, including "web-based" applications.
- Experience in testing distributed applications highly desirable.
- Strong organizational and project planning skills, including the ability to participate in multiple projects with tight deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to communicate and share testing status with Function management and appropriate stake holders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to interact with various levels of staff and management.
- Ability to create and troubleshoot SQL queries.
- Experience in use of automated test tools and script development.
- Certification in Quality Assurance or ability to obtain certification highly desirable.
- Experience with the FRIT central computing environment desirable.
