Reporting to the Manager of Projects and Application Support, this individual will provide a high level of knowledgeable, technical leadership to University Information Systems services group. The Applications Administrator is responsible for planning and executing complex technology implementation projects across the service organization, on time, on budget, and within scope. He or she will maintain extensive technical knowledge of both software and hardware for the Windows platform, explore emerging frameworks and technologies and facilitate their inclusion into the service organization. He or she will be tasked with developing original technology solutions to solve business problems. This includes developing processes, procedures, and automated workflows to support package creation through Microsoft's SCCM systems management tool. In addition, this position is expected to manage the suite of applications that are core to the successful operation of the service organization. This includes but is not limited to; WSUS, Connected, Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and various desktop security tools.
Additionally, the Applications Administrator is responsible for mentoring technicians through sharing and documenting knowledge. Must independently manage work queue and customer expectations, balance tasks of mixed priorities, and carefully report on work progress and completions. May lead and direct the work of others.
Other activities include but are not limited to the following:
- Develops processes, procedures, and automated workflows to support package creation through Microsoft's SCCM systems management tool.
- Ensures integrity, accuracy, access and security of the applications that are core to the successful operation of the service organization. This includes but is not limited to; WSUS, Connected, Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager and various desktop security tools.
- Creates deployment tasks/packages within the systems management framework, currently SCCM.
- Responsible for planning and executing complex technology implementation projects across the service organization, on time, on budget, and within scope.
- Documents processes and workflows.
- Works with system vendors to identify and correct software problems of the highest level.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or 3+ years in a large open-systems environment
- Strong overall Microsoft-centric administration skills
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SCCM
- Proven background working in a customer service focused, team oriented environment.
- Exceptional Customer Service and documentation skills a must.
- The ability to successfully execute per formal workplans and schedules while exercising excellent judgment with minimal supervision also a must.
Please note: requires rotational off-hours on-call status
Additional Qualifications
In addition to the required skills, the ideal candidate will have these highly desirable skills:
- SQL, MOM, Exchange, IIS
- Experience with VMware and Mac OS
