Applications Architect Sr Job Summary Responsible for application architecture for several large projects, which includes approving design deliverables for projects. Develop, maintain, and communicate processes and standard practices related to the design, development, and implementation of application solutions and patterns. Responsible for designing and delivering ETL technology solutions within a complex enterprise environment that will help business users gain competitive advantage and evolve into high performance organizations. Responsible for architecting and developing Ab Initio graphs and supporting scripts interrogating a Teradata warehouse and Oracle data mart. Designs the technical architecture, installation and configuration of all components of the ETL process. Job Responsibilities (listed in order of importance and/or time spent) Develops, maintains, and communicates processes and standard practices related to the design, development, and implementation of application solutions and patterns. Fosters and encourages solution reuse within Business Units and at the Enterprise level. Facilitates and enables the integration of applications and business processes using common methods in managing several large projects. Develops and maintains conceptual, logical, and physical application architecture, in the research and development, planning, deployment, and training of application technologies, and the retirement of obsolete applications. Provides leadership in the logical and physical design of application systems, and ensures design is consistent and well integrated with existing conceptual, logical, and physical application architectures. Analyzes and estimates feasibility, costs, time, and resources needed to develop, and implement application systems for several large projects. Researches and evaluates software technology, products, and solutions, and make recommendations on technology/production introduction, phase out, and retirement.Assists in application portfolio management, standards development, maintenance, and governance.Consults with clients to prototype, refine, test, and implement applications to meet needs. Basic Qualifications Interests Bachelors Degree and at least 8 years of experience in IT. At least 5 years of experience in application systems design, construction, implementation and maintenance. At least 5 years of experience with technical design process and models. At least 5 years of experience consulting to identify articulate needs, determine project scoping, creating a plan and estimating project costs, effort and duration. At least 5 years of experience working with enterprise Architecture standards, processes tools, including IT Architecture standards, Technology trends. At least 5 years of experience with systems integration processes, methodology and tools. At least 3 years of experience as an Application Architecture. Experience utilizing verbal and written communication skills - articulating and communicating information and ideas to varying audiences and in multiple written styles (persuasive, informative, narrative) in order to negotiate/gain access to information and records. Experience with SDLC / SW development processes (RUP, Agile, Waterfall). Experience using analytical skills, tools and techniques to investigate information and to draw conclusions. Experience in diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems. Preferred Qualifications Interests Bachelors Degree in Comp Science OR Masters Degree in IT/CS At least 7 years of experience with Ab Initio graph development. At least 7 years of experience with large scale data warehouses working with 3NF and STAR schemas. Experience working with Teradata warehouses and Oracle data marts. Experience working with Teradata utilities (TPUMP, MULTILOAD, FASTLOAD, BTEQ). Experience implementing Ab Initio processes with knowledge of Ab Initio toll, version 2/15 or higher. Experience with the project development lifecycle from feasibility through analysis, design, build, test, and deployment. Experience building and maintaining relationships within a team. Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Office 2003 or later: Word (for example: creating and modifying text styles, numbering and sorting lists, working with sections and columns, formatting tables, and using templates and using diagrams and drawing tools), Excel (for example: formatting text and borders of cells, working with workbooks and worksheets, using range names, referencing cells, sorting, and auto filtering) and PowerPoint (for example: creating presentations, adding and removing slides, entering and formatting text, applying design templates, modifying masters, inserting graphics and objects, creating handouts). Intermediate level experience (for example: adding resources to a project, assigning resources to a task, leveling resources across task, assigning costs to a tasks, tracking percent complete, start, and finish dates, and viewing progress through the Gantt chart or reports) with Microsoft Project 2003 or later.
