POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Interviews patients to obtain accurate and complete patient demographic and insurance information in order to complete the admission and registration of all patients at various
locations throughout UHS and to ensure the Patient Billing Department can bill timely and correctly for the services rendered at UHS. Communicates with self pay patients about charges and assists patient with payment arrangements. Collects copays, coinsurance and other monies that may be owed by patient. Collects appropriate forms as required by Medicare, Medicaid insurance companies and or other agencies. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient records and follows 4 for the Customer principles.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school graduation or equivalent is required. Post high school coursework is preferred. Six (6) months experience in a hospital/physician setting, obtaining insurance benefits and pre-certification is required. Prior collection experience is preferred. Billing experience and contract knowledge is preferred. One year of experience in a similar occupation and basic medical terminology and ICD 9 coding experience is preferred.
