Role Summary/Purpose
The Oracle DBA Architect will serve as technical expert responsible for the design and implementation of data base (DB) technology and set and administer standards for overall organization's relational DB structure / architecture. In this role, you will research DB technology, determine business requirements, proposes changes, develop migration and implementation plans, and may execute projects based on these activities.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Ensure plans for DB technologies integrate with aspects of the technical infrastructure
  • Advise management on technology purchases and on future projects or environment upgrades / modifications
  • Upgrade, configure, tune, and debug all components of the Oracle technology stack including the Oracle 10G and 11G database
  • Plan, execute, and support continuous production rollouts of new functionality utilizing latest Oracle technology
  • Plan and execute strategy to stay current on Oracle technology and releases
  • Provide evaluation, architecture, and integration skills to implement and support 3rd Party products within the Oracle framework
  • Architect HA / DR solutions to ensure application availability
  • Contribute to overall capacity planning and configuration management of the supporting infrastructure
  • Work with the CIS Security Team to promptly address any security issues
  • Identify and lead automation of repetitive processes to minimize errors and maximize service delivery
  • Document processes and train team members within an onsite/offsite resource model
  • Integrate with a larger DBA team that supports other custom Oracle database applications
  • Work effectively across various support teams and with senior management
  • Apply Six Sigma methodology to all aspects of the applications

    Qualifications/Requirements
    Basic Qualification:

  • Minimum 5 years deep experience)in Oracle DBA work through 10.2.0.4 release levels
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Oracle 10G database skills to include implementations, upgrades, and performance tuning (SQL,OEM, and PL / SQL)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with upgrades

  • Be able to satisfy the requirements of Section 19 of the Federal Deposit Insurance Act

    Desired Characteristics

  • 3+ years of experience with multi-lingual Oracle implementations and UTF8
  • 3+ years of experience in new product evaluation, architecture, implementation, and integration with Oracle
  • 3+ years UNIX and shell scripting experience with demonstrated ability in process automation
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or other field, or 4+ years Computer Science experience
  • 1+ years of experience in MYSQL administration
  • 3+ years of experience as an IT project manager
  • 5+ years of experience in problem analysis and problem resolution skills from an O/S, database, and middle tier perspective
  • 3 years of experience executing process improvements
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and implementing high availability and disaster recovery for mission critical Oracle environments
  • Strong documentation skills
  • 2+ years of experience with RAC
  • Knowledge of Data Warehousing Tools
  • Data Modeling and ERD design experience
  • Strong track record of understanding and interest in current and emerging technologies demonstrated through training, job experience and/or industry activities
  • Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer; builds strong customer relationships and creates processes with customer viewpoint

    Corporate Information Services (CIS) is a dynamic, global team focused on providing IT leadership to GE Corporate Components and GE company wide applications. Our mission is to partner with customers to develop company wide, global applications and provide thought leadership to build high quality, common services enabling business productivity and growth. The Corporate Information Services Organization serves both the Corporate function and all GE businesses. Some GE-wide applications managed by CIS are Oracle HR, SSS, Benefits, SSO and InsideGE, GE.com; CIS is responsible for some of the most heavily used applications in GE. The CIS Data Services Team is responsible for providing Database, ERP, and BI services to customers both within CIS and across the Company. We support numerous highly visible global applications, and our team of approximately 60 (including contractors) is dispersed across the globe.
