Area Underwriting Manager
Full Job Description
Duties Include:
- Reporting to the Head of Regional Trading, you will be responsible for the Profit and Loss Account (P+L) for the Bristol region, through your team of local underwriters.
- You will directly line manage three Underwriting Managers for the classes of business we cover (Property, Liability and Motor) and an Operations Manager and through these indirectly manage the underwriters in the branch (circa 40).
- You will develop and maintain excellent relationships with key brokers in the region and work closely with the Area Business Development Manager and their team to facilitate this.
- Developing the capability of the underwriters in the region.
- Ensuring all activities are within regulatory and governance frameworks.
The successful candidate will posses the following skills and experience:
- You will have proven experience from within an underwriting account management role, with specific knowledge from one or all of the Property, Liability or Motor classes of business.
- You will have proven people management experience, as well as the aptitude and desire to manage a large and diverse team, which will include rewarding strong performers and also performance managing members of the team with development needs.
- As well as excellent communication and relationship building skills, you will be an excellent negotiator and driven to try to get the best terms to drive growth for our business.
