Key Roles Responsibilities

Control Room Activities
* Provides a pro-active control room service to the various stakeholders in relation to regulatory, reputational and ethical matters, relating to Standard Chartered Group's activities. This includes assessing transactions for potential conflicts, providing guidance on Information Walls, managing the Watch and Restricted lists, reviewing equity positions, providing assistance on research related matters, administering the Group Personal Account Dealing policy and procedures and managing the Outside Business Interest procedures.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of Control Room policies and procedures designed to eliminate or minimise the risk of breaches of regulatory requirements and regulatory expectations and of damage to Standard Chartered Group's reputation.
* Provides a fast and proactive turnaround to the business.
* Ascertain, apply and promote to relevant stakeholders best Group practices in the area of Control Room matters.
* Work effectively and proactively with other compliance and business teams to manage in-country and business-wide regulatory and product risks.
* If enforcement is necessary, ensures timely and appropriate action is taken.

Knowledge development and information management
* Ensures the dissemination of appropriate training and information to the WB Compliance community, with an emphasis on equipping local teams to manage WB risk.
* Ensures appropriate reporting of material issues to WB Compliance senior management.

Partnership
* Develops a strong professional relationship across the Group.
* Actively engages relevant stakeholders - local teams, regulators, risk functions and compliance colleagues to continually value-add to the overall risk management framework.

Qualifications and Skills

Technical Knowledge
* Possess advanced technical knowledge in conflict management, information walls, market abuse, insider dealing, investment research and regulatory disclosure obligations.
* Has a core understanding of variations in such laws and regulations across various jurisdictions.

Compliance skills
* Core knowledge in risk identification, risk assessment, controls development, training, monitoring and reporting.
* Core experience, shown by demonstrable achievements in the above areas.

Analytical skills
* Core ability to identify and articulate compliance issues.
* Core problem solving and solution finding skills.
* Core ability to carry out data mining and trend analysis.

Communications skills
* Core presentation skills - one-to-one, small group, large group.
* Core ability to provide high quality training programmes, both internally and externally.
* Core ability to provide written information in a clear and concise format (e.g. updates to Compliance Manual, Code of Conduct, and circulation of Compliance Circulars).
* Core ability to use communications channels appropriate to the situation.
* Introductory dispute resolution skills.

Institutional knowledge (not required for new hires)
* Core knowledge of the system of internal controls that enables effective management of the affairs of the Group.
* Core knowledge of internal governance and management structures.
* Introductory knowledge of the products and services offered by the bank, its history, geographical footprint, and strategic plan.
